Which machine IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

It depends! Both of these desktop CNC machines are compatible with our intuitive Bantam Tools Milling Machine Software and machine-specific accessories. So whether you use one or looking to build a Bantam Tools CNC machine farm, you’ll have a reliable workflow and infrastructure to collaborate with your team or students. The majority of parts for each machine are manufactured in-house at Bantam Tools HQ in Peekskill, NY, and 100% of the machines are fully assembled and tested at our facility.

However, you need more power, a bigger build volume, and plan to make parts that require a 4th axis, the Bantam Tools Desktop CNC Milling Machine is an ideal prototyping solution. This powerhouse CNC is capable of clearing away material much faster than the Bantam Tools Explorer™ CNC Milling Machine. For instance, we comfortably hit a material removal rate of 0.4 cubic inches per minute when milling aluminum using the Bantam Tools Desktop CNC Milling Machine—with plenty of room to go.

 

For this pocket operation, we hit a 0.63" material removal rate using a Datron 6mm single-flute end mill at 28,000 RPM and 140" in/min with a 0.2" optimal load and 0.0225" stepdown!

 

But while you can move the Bantam Tools Desktop CNC Milling Machine around your shop, we’d wager it’s not something you don’t move often, and it’s definitely difficult to take on the road. This is where the advantage of the Bantam Tools Explorer™ CNC Milling Machine comes in. This powerful and portable machine is designed to move and be close to a point of need as possible. It’s 42 lbs and overall dimensions are roughly 16” x 10” x 16”, making it easy to stick in a Pelican case. With a 6” x 4” x 2.75” build volume, you’re still able to take charge, machine function parts, and solve big problems. But with an average MRR of .1 cubic inches per minute, machining aluminum prototypes will take more time.
